Documentation: when is a protocol “supported”?
Arti should consider itself to “support” a protocol if, as built, it implements the protocol completely.
Just having the protocol listed among the named
protocols is not enough, and neither is an incomplete
or uncompliant implementation.
Similarly, if the protocol is not compiled in, it is not technically supported.
When in doubt, ask yourself:
- If another Tor implementation believed that we implemented this protocol, and began to speak it to us, would we be able to do so?
- If the protocol were required, would this software as built actually meet that requirement?
If either answer is no, the protocol is not supported.
